"Always do sober what you say you'd do drunk. That'll teach you to keep your mouth shut."
While I dreamed that when I turned 21 I would from that point forward fill my life sipping all manners of alcoholic beverages, the sad truth is this: beer makes me want to puke, wine causes an involuntary shudder, and hard alcohol elicits an unpleasantry of rosiness after I throw the first 2.5 ounces back. So needless to say, the year celebrating twenty one years of age has so far passed just like any other year.
While I have been devoting copious amounts of training acclimating my taste buds to the fine spirits life has to offer, I have also been experimenting with all manners of mixed drinks- cocktails to not really get you tipsy, but drinks that affirm your masculinity and levels of testosterone merely because it's 5:00PM and you are holding an alcoholic libation.
Except the thing is, I'm most certain a drink like this blackberry vodka mojito most likely takes away my masculinity more than anything. You win some, you lose some, but you do need a beverage to celebrate an upcoming summer of traversing Western Europe culminating in an internship in London.
Stay thirsty, my friends.
Blackberry Vodka Mojito
*note: I wish I could give exact measurements, but this is really about adjusting to your liking and preferences
Vodka [strawberry infused works smashingly]
Club Soda [or Lemon-Lime if you want to kick the pansy level up a notch]
Throw a couple lime wedges, a few blackberries, mint leaves, and a pinch of sugar into the bottom of your cocktail glass, and muddle with a wooden spoon until the blackberries and mint have been torn and smashed into an unrecognizable mash. Add a shot or two of vodka, twice as much soda, and top with ice.
Sip slowly and leisurely, and let the glow set into your cheeks.
